Pan in Harmony - Dominica

Pan in Harmony was formed when the daughter of the late Eddie Andre, Jacqueline Andre, organized a tribute concert with a group of young talented steel pan players from Brizees Pan, Genesis and NBD Possie Culture. Since these bands were inactive at that time, the band stayed together. In May of 2019, the band was invited to perform at the Gwadadli Festival, a Musical, Culinary and Visual Art Festival held in Guadeloupe. Some group members still travel to other Caribbean islands like St. Lucia, and Antigua and participate in their national Pan Competitions. The group passionately believes that steel pan music is not only a carnival feature but should be enjoyed throughout the year. Pan in Harmony has been providing music for various functions and hosts annual concerts to date. In October 2020 Pan in Harmony participated in an international virtual pan event which brought 23 countries and 691 players together.

Jacqueline Andre is the manager and Musical Director.  The band has an active membership of 12. Practice sessions were held at her residence in Canefield up till hurricane Maria 2017. Today the band is temporarily housed at the Art Centre of the Cultural division.

Harvest Time

“The initiative is known as Kichini Gardeners, teaching  and connecting Children to conservation through sustainable gardening. We want to learn and conserve our soils and species for the generations of today and tomorrow. Considering that few children are involved into topics of conservation, we believe in giving them a practical skill and leadership which would aid them in class and also build ambassadors who will teach the rest about conservation of species and soils through gardens as they transition into adulthood.” Irene Nagudi, Kichini Gardeners, Uganda
